More On What To Pack For College

Alexander starts college in less than 2 weeks. Have I started shopping yet. No. Maybe I am in denial. Plus, what do I buy here, and what do I buy out in Boulder, Colorado. Maybe I am in denial.
He has met his roommate and hopefully they will coordinate on the big items. They can decide who brings the television and who brings the stereo. Do you buy those items here in NY and ship. Or do you make the mad dash shopping spree once we get to the school? Do students still have stereos? They no longer have phones. When I went to college the phone and it coordinating bill were always an issue. Who's name did the phone go into, who called long distance, etc. Now everyone student has a cell phone and an Ipod, don't think I have to put that on the list. I am sure my son is not walking out of the house with out them.
WHAT TO TAKE
FLIP FLOPS -Athlete's Foot and other students disgusting habits, say no more
PERSONAL COMPUTER - Besides video chatting with your friends from home, there will be no excuse for not getting your work done .
LOTS OF QUARTERS -Laundry, vending machines, etc
EXTRA UNDERWEAR -I would say bring plenty. Please promise you will do laundry before your I come up for Parents Weekend

PHOTOS -We don't want you to be homesick. Every time you look at these pics, you will be grateful to be away.
CLOTHING -Just remember the closets are tiny.
Pack a bathrobe, shower slippers, towels, and personal care items such as your hair dryer
MEDICINE
Bring Tylenol, Advil, Imodium, Tums, and anything else that you prefer to use when you aren't feeling well. Also, bring a first aid kit with plenty of Band-Aids.
SHOWER CADDY
Bring a container (water-proof) to carry your soap, razors, shaving cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc. You aren't going to be leaving your bathroom supplies in the bathroom, so keep them all in a convenient caddy so that you can easily transport them to and from the showers.
WHAT TO BUY THERE
STORAGE CONTAINERS, Hangers, and flashlights.
SNACK FOODS
Pick up some snacks, like chips, granola, and cereal. If you have a mini refrigerator in your room, then you can do even better, but if not, you still want to have something to munch on when you are up at night cramming for an exam.
