The FDA is testing lap-band surgery for adolescents in select clinical trials. Teenage Waistland, recently released by Random House, is a fictional story told in the voices of 3 teenage patients (1 male) who are selected to be in one of these trials. With smart dialogue and self-deprecating humor, and not just for those interested in the surgery, Teenage Waistland is a story of betrayal, intervention, a life-altering operation, and a long-buried truth that proves far more devastating than the layers of fat that protect it.
Providing some factual information is an Afterword by Dr. Jeff Zitsman, Director of NY
Presbyterian- the locus for one of the leading clinical trials for teen lap-band surgery.
Lynn Biederman and Lisa Pazer are local (Bedford) authors who will be appearing on Good Day NY sometime in January. Book can be purchased through ,Amazon and other bookstores.
